We loved our brief experience so much, that we decided to stay overnight on our way back to Austin at the conclusion of our vacation. Once again- from the moment we entered the gate, we felt like the most important people on earth. The staff is warm and welcoming, and went out of their way to make us comfortable. On Thursday nights the lodge hosts a "butcher block" dinner that is open to the public in their outdoor pavilion. Once again, they served excellent food and went out of their way to accomadate our food allergies. We also met the owners that night.
The rooms were comfortable and well appointed with we most comfortable sheets and towels I have ever used in a hotel. Needless to say, we will be back, and I would recommend this resort to anyone. We were blown away be the views and the facility itself, but even more so by the staff. Specifically, Nicole who handled our reservations, Wojo who is the Food and Beverage Manager, Lizzy- the most amazing server I have ever encountered, and Alex - our really great bartender. We got to know each of these people, if only briefly, but they make this place a truly first class destination. This was one of the best experiences our family has had. Thank you JL Bar Resort!

We had the most amazing stay at the JL Bar Ranch and Resort. We were traveling to West Texas from Austin and first stopped here for Sunday Brunch, as it was about halfway and is situated right off of I-10. From the moment we entered the gate, we knew we were some place special.
Wojo kindly greeted us and gave us a tour of the lodge, made us drinks, and talked to us about all of the unique parts of the property. For example, there is a jet runway on-site, a general store with guns and ammo, and they have their own white-tail operation. The also have a 16 room resort, with pool, hot tub, putting green and clubhouse. We were impressed.
After that, we were guided into the dining room for an exquisite brunch. We have many food allergies in our family, and the chef had designed a menu specifically for us that met our needs. And it was great! We had the best server too, Lizzy. I felt almost instantly like she was a part of our family.
I cannot say enough positive comments other than the JL Bar Ranch is a Fist class operation in every way! The owners, management and staff provide impeccable service and attention to every detail. They have nailed it! The food is delicious and the service was top notch to complement. We hunted quail and shot at the range and had a blast! I cannot wait to return with my family. I've seen a lot of operations around the world in this class and The JL Bar is one of the very best.
